Edwin Kinter Obituary

Edwin Jack Kinter of Portland ME, formerly of Medfield died on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough ME. He was 87 years old. Mr. Kinter was a US Army World War II veteran. He was a maintenance supervisor at Leonard Morse Hospital (now Metro West Medical Center) in Natick. He retired after 20 years of service. For 40 years Ed Kinter ran his own business, Help Unlimited, specializing in handyman and odd job services. A long time dancing enthusiast, he enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and ballroom dancing. He enjoyed playing Bridge, card games and board games of all sorts. Mr. Kinter was an accomplished woodworker, an avid tennis player and liked hiking and camping. He spent a number of years volunteering with the Boy Scouts. Beloved husband of the late Virginia (Fogleman) Kinter. Father of Bruce E. Kinter of New Port Richey FL and Terry J. Itameri-Kinter and his wife Kristina of North Attleboro. Brother of Carolyn Culver of New Paltz NY. Grandfather of Heather Marie Kinter of New Port Richey FL, Kirsti Itameri-Kinter of Brooklyn NY and Kai Itameri-Kinter of Boston. Also survived by 3 nieces, Nancy, Barbara and Connie. A graveside service will be held at Vine Lake Cemetery in Medfield on Saturday, November 13th at 11AM . Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in Ed’s name may be made to the Hospice of Southern Maine, 1600 US Rte 1, Scarborough, ME 04074 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St, New York, NY 10016 (form at www.kidney.org/support).
