Eleanor M. (Sommer) O'Keefe

Eleanor M. O’Keefe, a Needham resident for 51 years, died peacefully at age 90 on October 21 at The Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood.  Eleanor was born in 1933 in Belmont to the late Estelle (Hagan) and Charles J. Sommer.  She is predeceased by Paul J. O’Keefe, her loving and devoted husband of 43 years.  Also predeceased by her brother Robert Leonard Sommer, and nephew Robert Anthony Sommer. 

Eleanor graduated from Belmont High School and LaSalle Junior College.  She spent her career as secretary to program managers at TV stations WBZ in Allston and WHDH in Needham. 

She is survived by her niece, Elizabeth Harrigan, her nephew, Thomas, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews of the Sommer, O’Keefe and Harrigan families.

Visiting hours at Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Thursday morning October 26 from 9 – 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bartholomew Church, 1180 Greendale Ave, at 11:00 am. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
