Elizabeth Perry Ball, 95, of Needham, Massachusetts, and formerly of Wellesley, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Betsy was the beloved wife of her husband of 49 years, the late Robert L. Ball; the devoted mother of her two sons, Robert Perry Ball of Boston and David Bradlee Ball of Waltham; the dedicated sister of her two brothers, the late Roger A. Perry Jr. and the late H. Bradlee Perry; and the aunt of nine nieces and nephews.
Born in Boston on January 9, 1929, to Roger A. Perry and Elizabeth Bradlee Perry, Betsy grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts and graduated from the Winsor School, Bradford Junior College, and Boston University. After studying at Eliot-Pearson Nursery Training School, Betsy joined The Park School in 1954, where she worked joyfully with children for the next 65 years. She began teaching three- and four-year olds in Park’s Nursery, and when her sons were young, she stepped away from the classroom and became a committed parent volunteer, running the Clothing Sale and welcoming all-comers to the annual Harvest Fair. After her sons reached high school, Betsy assumed the essential job of running the Front Desk. For nearly four decades she greeted visitors, coordinated dozens of volunteers, and inspired generations of Park students and their families, all with her characteristic warmth and her trademark smile.
Dedicated to her extended family, Betsy cherished family celebrations at Christmas and Easter. She also loved spending summer days near the water, in Maine and Marion with her brothers, and at Lake George, where she spent time each summer for almost 60 years with her husband, sons, and brother-in-law, the late Right Reverend David S. Ball.
Her family is grateful to all of those at North Hill and from FirstLight who provided Betsy with such outstanding care.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of Our Saviour in Brookline on Friday, September 20, at 11:00 a.m.
