Elizabeth Jane "Jane" Brock, age 87, passed peacefully, at home on October 6, 2025, in Needham, MA with her family by her side. She was born in Willimantic, CT on November 11, 1937, to her beloved parents Gerard Edward Loiselle and Eleanor Beatrice (Moriarty) Loiselle and her older brother Gerard Edward Jr. Growing up in Willimantic, she spent summers at her family’s cottage at Old Lyme Shores, Old Lyme, CT. She graduated from Windham High School in Willimantic in 1958 and then attended University of Connecticut in Storrs.
Like many young ladies in those days, academics were replaced by marriage and motherhood. She excelled at both, raising 5 children. Family life included summers at the shore in Old Lyme, skiing trips, music under the stars at Tanglewood, and rescuing all kinds of pets from kittens to ponies. She will be remembered by thousands in Needham for being the donut house lady on Halloween where she gave out dozens of warm cinnamon donuts to all who came.
Life throws curve balls and Jane was thrown one when her first husband decided that family life was not for him. Jane had to reinvent her life and did that by returning to college to complete her education. One of her proudest accomplishments was her Magna Cum Laude degree from Wellesley College in 1981 as a Davis Scholar. After teaching at The Brandon School in Natick, MA, she went on to get an MA in Counseling from Framingham State University where she also returned to teach master’s level courses. She used her degree as the Director of Family Therapy at Reed Academy in Framingham for the remainder of her career. She was active in the 1970s civil rights movement and spent her life advocating for the underprivileged while providing guidance and unconditional love to countless others. Her life was enriched by everyone she met.
In the meanwhile, Jane was fortunate to find the love of her life and spent the last 48 years loving and being loved by Donald Brock. Their eyes sparkled for each other every day. Combined they were Grammy and Grampy to 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren in addition to Don’s 4 and Jane’s 5 original children. More ski trips, hiking, wallowing in the Swift River and camping in Conway, NH or boating in Duxbury Bay, MA and Old Lyme filled their days with fun and adventure. Jane loved gardening, reading, woods walks with her beloved dogs, and big family gatherings - the more the merrier.
Jane is predeceased by her mother, father, brother, daughter in law Tracy Husband Laucks, stepdaughter Elizabeth Brock Prescott (Betsy)and step granddaughter Jessica Brodeur and step son in law Edward Brodeur. She is survived by her children Christopher Laucks of Scituate, father of Christopher Laucks and Mackenzie Laucks Freedman; Elizabeth Laucks Lerch (Robert Lerch) of Wilton, CT, mother of Anna Lerch and Elizabeth Lerch; Rosemary Laucks Huson (Doug Oldham) of Newton NH, mother of Charlotte Lane and Benjamin Huson; Eric Laucks (Valerie Haese Laucks) San Antonio, TX, father of Isabelle Laucks and Katherine Laucks; and Melinda Laucks; and Brock children: Debra Brodeur, Robert Brock (Suzanne Brock) and Diana Gately (Richard); and legions of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
