Elvera Magee Obituary

Elvera Ellie (Gatto) Magee passed away on February 17, 2019. She was 88 years old.

Elvera was the youngest of seven children and was born and raised in Somerville, MA to Italian immigrants from a small town in Sicily. Growing up in Somerville, she was surrounded by many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family who lived nearby.

She was married to William Magee for 61 years, until his death a few years ago, and together they raised their two children in Somerville. They eventually moved to Berlin, MA in their later years.

Elvera is survived by her daughter Rosanne Magee- Ryder and her husband Warren Freedenfeld of Newton, son William Magee and his wife Liliana Clemenza of Toronto.

She had four beloved grandchildren, Erica Sylvester and her husband Steve, Stephen Magee, Genevieve Ryder, and Innes Magee, and five great- grandchildren Andrew, Wesley, Eli, Tetyana, and Caroline Sylvester.

She is also survived by her sister Sara (Gatto) Marciello, and several nieces and nephews.

Elvera worked for 25 years at the Somerville District Court in the Probation Office doing clerical work. She was socially conscious and would often support her favorite political candidates in her community.

She was a good cook, and always the life of the party.  She loved to dance and go to Foxwoods, but the most important thing in her life was her family whom she loved dearly.
