Erasima Metallides Obituary

Erasmia (Sideropoulou) Metallides, of Brighton was born on April 28, 1929 in Mikro Dassos, Kilkis, Greece

She lived at home on Bigelow St in Brighton since 1965, and for the last decade was severely disabled with arthritis and as of last week, she rapidly deteriorated due to Covid. She died on May 8th at home with family at her side.

Erasmia’s husband, GregoryMetallides passed away a year and a half ago. She leaves behind her son Themis Metallides and wife Ginger, daughter Mary

(Metallides) and husband Theodore Djaferis, 6 grand children- Melissa Leblanc, Gregory Metallides and wife Heather, EJ and fiancée Meghan, Harry and wife Danielle, Jennifer and husband Jeffrey Michaud, and Kathy and husband Barton Holl. She also leaves 7 great grand children, Aaron, Ayva Leblanc, Drew, Cole, Aiden Metallides, Olivia Michaud, and Vaia Holl.

Erasmia married in 1952 and moved to Katerini, Greece. She was a custom seamstress and also worked in the family tobacco fields. She and Gregory lived through difficult years of war and famine that struck Greece. It was a hard life and so when the opportunity arose they immigrated to the USA in April 1963. She worked as a seamstress for Baron Peters, and later at Mass General. Upon retirement she made custom drapes, upholstered furniture, and made pet beds for friends. In addition helped with daycare of her grand and great grandchildren. She was an energetic member in the Greek Evangelical Church in Newton along with her husband who was an elder in the church. They visited the sick and assisted with the needs of the congregation. They loved their church family and were loved by many for their open home and hospitality.

A private family gravesite funeral will be held due to current circumstances.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made to the Greek Evangelical Church of Boston in Newton.
