Evelyn Poness Obituary

Evelyn "Evie" Marie Poness (nee Antonini) passed away peacefully in her home in Needham, Massachusetts on December 12, 2025.  Evie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Joseph Poness, Sr.  She is survived by her son, Ralph, Jr. and his wife Kim of Framingham, her daughter, Antoinette Marie Poness of Jamaica Plain, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Born in Cornwall, New York on September 16th, 1948, Evie graduated from Highland Falls High School, where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Ralph.  After their marriage, Evie and Ralph moved to Needham, Massachusetts where Evie settled into a 43-year long career with the Town of Needham.  In addition to becoming the first female Treasurer-Collector for the town, she was the longest seated chair of the retirement board, a standing member of both MCTA of Massachusetts and SUGA, the software users group dedicated to training and networking.

Evie is remembered as a giant woman in a tiny package; proud and independent with work ethic beyond compare.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by the many people she knew, both personally and professionally.
