Everett E. Hicks of Needham, World War II Veteran, died on August 29th 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born and raised in Brighton received his Bachelor's Degree from Boston University and his Master's Degree from Fordham University. During War II Mr. Hicks worked as an Information Specialist with the Infantry, receiving a Purple Heart in 1944. He then married Margaret Finlayson and they moved to Argentina for six years working for the First National Bank of Boston.
After moving back to the US he became the Director of Financial Aid at Boston University and while there went to Nigeria for a year on a grant with the Ford Foundation. He later became the Fiscal Director at the Mass Board of Community Colleges.
He is survived by his wife Margaret E. (Finlayson). He is also survived by daughters, Dale Turner and husband Carl of North Easton and Diane Anastasi and husband James of North Easton. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Stephen Turner and wife Corinne, Jennifer Turner, Ashley Anastasi and Jim Anastasi as well as Niece Beth Finlayson of Barnard, Vt.
Mr. Hicks enjoyed sailing, biking, rollerblading and cross country skiing. He was also a Needham Town meeting member.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church Chapel, 1132 Highland Ave Needham on Friday September 9 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A private burial with military honors will be held at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
