Francis T. "Franny" Manning

Francis T. “Franny” Manning of Needham formerly of Newton Upper Falls died on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Avery manor in Needham. He was 81 years old. Born in Needham, Franny was the son of the late Martin and Mary (McIntyre) Manning. He was a graduate of Newton High School. Mr. Manning was a US Army Korean War Veteran. He worked for the William Carter Company as a printing press operator. In 1964 Franny graduated from the State Police Academy and embarked on a 24 year career as a dedicated police officer for the Town of Needham. He retired in 1987. An avid sports fan, Franny was especially enthusiastic about his New York Yankees, Montreal Canadians and San Francisco 49”ers. The beloved husband for 57 years of Lorraine “Lolly” (Ricciardelli), he was the loving father of Wayne F. Manning of Bellingham and the late Patricia A. Manning. Franny was the brother of the late Donald, John, Robert, and Virginia Manning. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Thursday afternoon, April 14th from 1-2 PM, followed by a graveside service with Military Honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham at 2:15PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. In lieu of flowers memorials in Frank’s name may made to the Home for Little Wanderers, Development Department, 271 Huntington Avenue, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02115.
