Frederick I. Young

Frederick I. Young Jr., a retired Newton Firefighter, died at his home on Sun Sept 26, 2010. He was 90.
Fred was a lifelong resident of Newton Upper Falls and lifelong member of the Second Baptist Church. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a firefighter for the City of Newton for over 30 years and following his retirement he had a workshop where he refinished furniture. He was a member of American Legion Post 440 in Newton, the Manson H. Carter VFW Post 2498, of Needham and Dalhousie Lodge AF & AM.
Fred was the beloved husband of the late Esther C. (Jameson) Young and the loving father of Frederick Young of Brookline, Joyce Volpe of No. Andover, Donna DeMaria of Needham and Mel Peabody of San Diego CA. He is also survived by 10 grand children and 15 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Thurs. Sept. 30 at 11AM. Visiting hours Wed 4-8 PM. Interment with Military Honors will be at Needham Cemetery.
