Gaspare M. “Gus” Bellomo of Westborough formerly of Needham passed away peacefully on Apr 27, 2021 after a long and wonderful life.
Gus was the beloved husband of Louise (Donovan) Bellomo and father of Anthony and his wife Linda of Holliston, Michael and his wife Suzanne of Cambridge, Peter and his wife Helen of Natick, Matthew and his wife Linda of Salem, NH, Nancy Heffernan and her husband Brian of Westborough and Kathleen Coyne and her husband Brian of Falmouth. He was the proud “Papa” of Matthew, Kristen, Joseph, Timothy, Alexander, James, Christopher, Anthony, Marcus, Julia, Michael, Bridget, Kathleen, Patrick, Caroline, Kevin and the late Nicholas. Gus was the son of Antonio and Nicolina (Racalbuto), and brother of the late Philip Bellomo and Mary Feeley.
Gus was born in Grotte, Sicily on October 26, 1930. He came to the United States with his parents in 1937 and grew up in Needham where he and Louise raised their family and had lived until 2012.
Gus was a graduate of the Needham school system that he entered without knowing a word of English. He was a United States Army veteran and graduate of Northeastern University. He genuinely cared about people, which led to a fulfilling career in Human Resource Management. He was the retired Director of Human Resources for GCA Corp and Damon Corporation.
Gus was an avid gardener, but his true passion in life was his large family. He was adored by his wife of almost 64 years, his children and 17 grandchildren, who all had their own special relationship with “Papa”. He loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Gus was a friendly, loving, kind and generous man with a light-hearted sense of humor. He loved to tell stories, and when you visited him and Louise at their home, you rarely left hungry, empty-handed and without a smile.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 3 at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church 1360 Highland Ave Needham followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery. All attendees must wear face coverings and adhere to COVID 19 protocols. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Sunday from 3-7 PM.
