Genevieve E "Jean" (Lonczak) Callahan

Genevieve E. (Lonczak) Callahan passed away in Newton, formerly of North Reading and Chicopee, peacefully on Nov 18, 2022. Wife of the late Timothy J. Callahan, to whom she was married for 57 years. Dear mother of Timothy J. Callahan Jr. and his wife Marie, and devoted “Babci” of Julia, Timothy III, and William Callahan. Born December 18, 1926, the 10th of 12 children of Louis and Maria (Midura) Lonczak. Sister of Helen Kelly and Julia Martin.  Predeceased by brothers Frederick, Adam, Walter, Stanley, and Edward, and sisters Angela, Michaeline, and Joanna. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Genevieve was known as Jean to her large, loving family and many friends.  Among her many interests were a love of music, the arts, Boston sports, and Polish culture, a heritage of which she was deeply proud.  Most of all she was a loving wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother. 

Her funeral will be from the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner on Fri Dec 2, 2022 at 9:30 AM followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Newtonville at 10:30 AM. Private family burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Stoneham. Visiting hours Thurs 4-7 PM.

Donations in her honor can be made to her favorite charity, the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
