George W. Newcomb

George W. Newcomb of Dover, died on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 99 years old. A longtime resident of Dover, Mr. Newcomb was one of the first uniformed Police officers in the Town of Dover. He was Lieutenant for the Dover Volunteer Fire Dept. George was a machinist for many years for Black and Webster in Waltham. He was a member of the Dover Grange and Masonic Lodge. The beloved husband of the late Esther L. (Schneider) Newcomb, he was the loving father of Ross S. and Paul S. Newcomb, both of Dover. Brother of the late Dorothy Leavitt. Grandfather of Torrey Newcomb Smith, Judd R. Newcomb, Brett J. Newcomb and Marc E. Newcomb. Great grandfather of Madeline, Elizabeth and George. A Graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery in Dover on Tuesday, May 3rd at 10AM Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
