Gregory John O'Halloran, age 62 of Newton MA died peacefully of respiratory failure in Boston on October 14, 2021. Born in Brighton and raised in Newtonville, Greg was a resident of Newton for most of his life. Greg worked for many years at Newton Yellow Cab where his co-workers and passengers became instant friends thanks to Greg’s kind manner, gift of gab, storytelling, quick wit, knowledge of Boston’s Irish history and politics, and his passion for Boston sports. Greg is survived by his brother William O’Halloran of Newton, sister Cathleen McManama and her husband Michael of Plymouth, his brother Mark of Randolph, sister Susan Boy and her husband Frederick of Yarmouth. He also leaves behind his adoring nephews, nieces and grand nieces; Gregory and Natasha McManama, Maggie McManama, Brendan Boy, and Addison and Olivia McManama. He also leaves behind several cousins who share incredible memories of family gatherings and road trips from their youth. Greg was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice O’Halloran, sister Maureen O’Halloran RSCJ, and Edward O’Halloran. Greg was a graduate of Boston State College/UMass Boston where he was a standout running back on their football team. Greg was a beloved member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1018. Greg had many friends throughout the area, and he will be sorely missed by all. A Calling Hour will be held on Wednesday, 10/20/21 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 at Our Lady Help of Christians, 573 Washington Street, Newton MA followed by a Funeral Mass. Internment at Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline MA. Arrangements are being handled by Eaton and Mackay Funeral Home, Newton MA.
