Obituary

Hannah Tabitha Rappolt, né Tuckerman, known as Tabby, passed away on Sunday May 7th 2023 after a month of illness at Newton Wellesley Hospital.  Tabby grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and is predeceased by her parents Murray and Byrde (né Merican) Tuckerman. Tabby graduated Wellesley College in 1973. While there she was an active member of their Shakespeare Society, and one of the founders of the Barony of Carolingia in the Society for Creative Anachronism. Tabby got her Master of Divinity at Andover Newton in 1977 and was ordained in the Unitarian Universalist tradition in 1979. She served as a minister until 1991 and spent the last decades of her career as an office manager. Tabby lived in Needham for over 3 decades, though she had moved to Natick in the last years of her life.

            Tabby was an active member of First Parish in Needham, UU and Needham’s square dance club, The Great Plain Squares. She was an outspoken proponent for social justice and after retirement volunteered with Metrowest Worker Center.

            Tabby loved to read, travel and spend time with her family. She leaves behind her husband of fifty years, George Rappolt, their son Ethan Rappolt, daughter Tara Rivard, her husband Jeff and their children Dylan, Rhiannon, Shayla and Elwynn and daughter Amanda Bergeron, her husband Chad their children Jasper and Evie. Tabby is also survived by her sisters; Sukey and Abigail, and her brother Seth, and their families, and her sister-in-law Meg and her family.

            A memorial service will be held at First Parish in Needham, UU (23 Dedham Ave) on Saturday June 3rd at 10 am. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her memory to Metrowest Worker Center, Wellesley College Shakespeare Society Alumni Association or the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.
