Harold Murphy Obituary

Harold N. Murphy, formerly of Watertown and Newton died on Nov 10, 2010 at the Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea. He was 77.

Born in Waltham, he graduated from Newton High in 1952 and received his BS in Psychology from Michigan State in 1961 and his Masters in Guidance and Counseling. He served in the US Army and worked as a Guidance Counselor at Malvern High for 10 years He later worked as an Investigator for the Office of Civil Rights for the US Dept. of Education.

Harold was a member of the Irish Georgian Society, the Eire Society, the Newport Preservation Society, the Bostonian Society and the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth.

Harold was the son of the late Raphael L and Barbara (Norton) Murphy. And the brother of Barbara M. Osborne of MD, Eileen Madden of Newton, Edward G. Murphy of VA, John J. Murphy of Newton and the late Raphael L., Joan Rousseau and Eleanor O’Brien. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friend Raffi R. Berberian and his family of Boston.

A funeral service will be held on Mon Nov 15 at 10:30 AM in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Sun 4-6 PM. Interment Newton Cemetery.
