James "Mel" Colman

James " Mel" Colman, a longtime Needham resident, died in Bradenton FL on Jan 31, 2021. Mel was born March 17,1929 in Springfield, MA and was the son of the late Arthur G. Colman and Isabel J. Colman.

Mel was the husband for 66 years to the late Helen Cox Colman and father of Richard D. Colman, & Robert A. Colman & wife Amelia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kim, Laura, Jenny, Emily, Theodore and Winslow Colman.

He was a graduate of Tufts University, was Divisional VP of Filenes Basement, and active in Needham Exchange Club and Charles River Association, Needham Cemetery as well as Republican politics.

Service will be held at the Needham Cemetery on Friday April 23rd at 2:00pm.
