James E. "Jim" Dolan, a longtime Needham resident died on Tuesday, May 8th at Briarwood Healthcare in Needham. He was 88 years old. Born in Jamaica Plain, Jim was the son of the late Francis and Emma (Benoit) Dolan. He was a graduate of Lexington High School and served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Dolan worked as an elevator mechanic for Local 4 for 36 years. Upon his retirement he enjoyed travelling. Jim was an active member of Norfolk Lodge A.F. & A.M. for 49 years. He was a Past Master of Norfolk Lodge and active in the Scottish Rite. Jim was a Past Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was the recipient of the Joseph Warren Distinguished Service Medal from the Massachusetts Grand Lodge.
Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a loving, generous and compassionate man and will be greatly missed.
The beloved husband of the late Jean M. (Crozier) Dolan, he was the loving father of Wayne S. Dolan of Ft. Lauderdale Fl and Craig S. Dolan and his wife Maxine of Norfolk. He is also survived by his grandson Jeffrey C. Dolan of Norfolk.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church, 800 Highland Ave Needham on Tuesday, May 15 at 10 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting will be held in the church from 9 to 10 am on Tuesday morning prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors will take place at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 pm. Arrangements by the Eaton Funeral Home.
