James Scott Obituary

James E. Scott, 72, of Boston, MA passed away peacefully on Feb. 8, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife Seton (Wall) Scott, two children and their partners Bridget Akinc (Akin) and Denis Scott (Melissa), and four grandchildren Alana Rose, Dillan, Ella and Shea. Cherished brother of Richard Scott and Dennis Scott.

A proud Hoya, Jim met the love of his life Seton while at Georgetown University in 1969 and they were lifelong partners for 48 years.

Former Director of the Graduate Banking and Financial Law Program at Boston University, and Director of Morgan Stanley Bank, Jim held legal positions at financial institutions ranging from the Federal Reserve Board in Washington D.C., to Security Pacific, Bank of America, Bankers Trust, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley. Active member of the American Bar Association, Jim served as the Chair of the Banking Law Committee from 2005-2008.

A man of great faith (& long bike rides), he will be remembered as a “man for others.” A Mass of Christian burial at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Jim’s name to the St. Ignatius High School Sponsor-a-Student Program for Tuition Assistance.
