James Robert Teare, "Uncle Bob", of Needham, died on Sunday June 17, 2012 at Norwood Hospital. He was 89 years old. Son of the late Jean (Barbour) and James Teare. Brother of Violet Pinkham of Millis, Janet Bailey of South Yarmouth and the late John Teare. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Teare was a US Navy, World War II veteran, having served aboard of the USS Belleau Wood during the Pacific Campaign. After the war, James received his BA from Tufts and his Masters from Boston School of Fine Arts. For nearly forty years until his retirement, James was an illustrator and technical artist for Draper Labs in Cambridge. His most memorable and rewarding project was being involved in the Apollo program. Uncle Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed skiing and hiking in the White Mountains and fly fishing throughout New England. At his request services and interment are private.
