James “Jim” Eugene Negro, age 79, of Wellesley, MA, passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2025. Beloved husband of 57½ years to Mary Ruth Negro. Devoted father to James “Jay” Negro (Carrie), parents of Eben and Mia; David Negro (Erica), parents of Jasper and Miranda; and Llora Jean Negro Miller (Trip), parents of Amelia and Liam.
Born in 1946, Jim earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, working in aeronautical engineering at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory. He later had a distinguished career in aerospace engineering, including contributions to the Strategic Defense Initiative.
Jim was a Diamond Life Master bridge player and enjoyed sailing, folk music, woodworking, ham radio, and watercolor painting. He cherished time with family, especially baking Christmas cookies with grandchildren.
A Memorial Service honoring the life of James Eugene "Jim" Negro will be held on Sunday afternoon February 8, 2026 at 2 PM at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington St, Wellesley, MA. Everyone is welcome to attend this service and the Memorial Tea which will follow.
