Jean Davidson Rand

Jean Davidson Rand, a resident of North Hill, Needham and a long time resident of Weston and Gloucester, died peacefully Friday, October 8, 2010 four weeks prior to her 93rd birthday. She was born November 4, 1917 in Boston, a daughter of the late Helen (Inglis) and James C. Davidson. Jean was an accomplished musician having played Piano in many settings since high school. She attended Oberlin College and graduated from Wheelock College in 1940. Jean taught first grade in the Dover Public Schools during the 1940’s and later taught at the Mitchell School in Needham once her children were grown. She was predeceased by her husband Abbott, her daughter Elizabeth (Church), and her brother James I. Davidson. She Leaves her sons James and his wife Irma (Noel) of Petoskey, Michigan and William and his wife Jennifer (King) of Groton, MA and her son-in-law Robert Church of Amherst, MA. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Jim and Irma’s sons Sven of Genoa, Nevada, Jerome and Adam of Virgin Gorda, BVI and Bill and Jennifer’s daughter Emily of New York City and their son Austin of Denver, Colorado. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 23, at 11:30AM at The Congregational Church of Weston, 130 Newton St., Weston, MA.
