Jeanne Rossi Obituary

Jeanne Rossi, 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Beth Israel Hospital, Needham after a short illness. She was born in Newton, MA to her beloved father Maksim and Mary Doshin (Daker), and raised in Newton Upper Falls along with her late sister Rose Doshin Roberti. As a young woman she worked for Eastern Airlines and as a telephone operator for American Telephone & Telegraph in Boston. She retired from NYNEX in 1997 with more than 25 years of service.

On April 26, 1958 she wed Richard “Dick” Rossi from Needham, and they were married for more than 50 years until his passing in December of 2008. They made a happy life in Needham, raising two children, Pamela and Richard. She was a fun and loving “Nana” to her grandsons, Matthew and Jack, two of the greatest joys of her life. She spent five years living in Williamsville, NY where she enjoyed precious time with her grandsons and met many wonderful friends before moving back to Needham in early 2020.

Jeanne or “Jeannie” had a great artistic flair which she nurtured during her life through drawing, painting, sewing, and knitting. She had a green thumb and lovingly cared for her plants both throughout the house and in her many gardens around the yard. You could often find her pruning, watering and even talking to her plants. She especially loved sitting in the sun while admiring the blooming flowers and their beauty. Her love for music and singing flourished in her later years where she had fun singing old songs with her friends or even just by herself! Her quest for fun was contagious, her smile and happy demeanor lit up a room and she had a special way of truly listening and sharing her positive outlook on life. You always felt better after a chat with Auntie Jeanne.

Jeanne will be dearly missed by her daughter Pamela Rossi Chrzanowski, her son Richard Rossi of Needham; grandsons Matthew and Jack Chrzanowski of Williamsville, NY; a loving extended family and a countless number of friends she gathered throughout her long life.

A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be planned for the spring/summer of 2021.
