Joan Helen (Hultin) Goffi

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Joan Helen Goffi, beloved wife, and mother on April 24, 2022, at the age of 91.  “A kinder soul He never sent”. Daughter of Helen and Oscar Hultin and sister of the late Herbert and Richard Hultin, Joan grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts and graduated from Simmons College with a B.S. After leaving college, she worked in Boston before marrying Elio A. Goffi and moving to Needham, Massachusetts. Joan met her late husband Elio at Mosley’s Dance Hall in Dedham, and they were married for 60 years before Elio’s passing in 2017 at the age of 94. In Needham she raised three daughters, Joan Goffi, D.V.M., Judy Goffi, M.S., and Jeanne Goffi-Fynn, M.M., Ed.D.  She then returned to the work force and thoroughly enjoyed her time at Mass Bay Community College, working in Human Resources. There she started her tradition of carrying buckets in her car to rescue turtles crossing the road.  Soft spoken and gentle, Joan cared for not only her family but also her cats, dogs, friends, neighbors, and strangers. She continued her support for her children and grandchildren throughout her life including Elia Goffi, B.A., and Peter and Helena Fynn. She was an avid reader of mystery novels from the Needham Library and enjoyed attending fitness classes well into her eighties, shopping for herself and others, baking cookies and attending local garden shows.
