Jody P. Acford

Jody P. Acford, of West Newton died suddenly, on Jan 31, 2011. She was 55.
Born in Lawrence, MA, Jody graduated from Taft Prep School, in Watertown, CT, Tufts Univ. and received her law degree from BU Law School. She worked for many years in corporate law at John Hancock and was their Deputy General Counsel for many years. She served on the board of directors of Horizons for Homeless Kids and the Aspergers Assoc of New England. She had also volunteered as a literacy aid in the Boston Public Schools.
Jody was the beloved wife of Stephen P. Burgay and loving mother of Megan and Benjamin Burgay all of West Newton and the daughter of Jean (Schubert) Acford and the late Richard C. Acford.
A service will be held on Fri Feb 4 at 1 PM in the Marsh Chapel at BU 735 Commonwealth Ave Boston. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery.
