John Campbell Obituary

John Patrick Campbell, 54, of Framingham, MA, passed away on October 31st, 2024 at the Veterans Administration Hospice in Brockton, MA, after a long battle with cancer. John was known for his vibrant spirit and love for his friends and family.

John grew up in Dover, MA, attended Minuteman Technical High School, and later served in the Army for three years. After he was discharged, John particularly enjoyed working in jobs that allowed him to be outside, including landscaping and grounds maintenance.

He was a man of many interests, including listening to podcasts, avidly following his favorite football and baseball teams, and reading vampire novels. John enjoyed spending time with friends and family, including his second family Alison Campbell and Karl Jackson, his godson Ben Jackson, and many nieces and nephews, Kati, Mercedes, Aaron, Malik, Khadijah, Anisah, Imani, Jenna, Maddy, and Sam.

During the last two decades of his life, John was dedicated to maintaining his sobriety, and his participation in AA.  He would have acknowledged that it was a one-day-at-a-time challenge to prioritize his recovery, and it was about the process, not perfection. John also felt a deep kinship to others involved in the process of recovery

John is survived by his mother, Susan Campbell; siblings Edward Campbell and wife Sarah, Laurie Whitten, Beth Campbell, and Lisa Campbell. He is also survived by his Godmother, Sheila O’Keefe, and friend and neighbor Janine Mello.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Campbell, and his grandparents, Molly and Robert Campbell, and Miriam and Robert Briggs.

A reception celebrating John's life will be held at 97 Glen Street in Natick, MA, on November 9th from 12-3pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration Hospice Program, Brockton, MA, the American Cancer Society, or to the animal rescue organization of your choice.
