May 31, 1936, was no regular day in the Crosby household. A baby was going to be born that day. It was a large baby who grew to be 6’3”, a boy who was kind, compassionate, respectful, and loved ice cream! He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Linda McLeod Crosby, and his brother, Thompson Wood Crosby. John was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Abby Crosby, his two sisters, Janet Frazier and Elizabeth Crosby Cloud and a brother, William B Crosby, Jr. Also surviving John are his sister-in-law Meredith McLeod Dunton and a brother-in-law James P. McLeod.
John and I had a loving marriage. He had a gentle heart and loved to help people. He had a high level of patience with everyone, especially our daughter Abby. We liked to hike in the White Mountains and when hiking to the peaks became too difficult, we made waterfalls our focus. Being in nature gave both of us a special kind of happiness. John was a loyal and devoted member of the Joseph Webb Lodge of the Masons, founded in 1876. John barely missed a meeting of the Lodge in almost 20 years.
John spent summers on the family farm in Halifax, MA. One of his jobs was to collect eggs from the hens in nesting boxes. One time, a hen pecked him bad. John grabbed the hen by the throat and threatened her by telling her what would happen if she ever did it again! We had so many amazing memories to share and laugh about. He told me that I was the love of his life, and I felt the same about him. We were blessed.
