John Garabedian Obituary

John Garabedian , 81, a lifelong Newton resident and Marine Corp veteran, who fought and was wounded in the Chosin Reservoir battle in Korea, which was one of the US Marines most epic battles, died on Sunday Aug 12, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury. John was wounded twice and received 2 Purple Hearts. He was also a retired Newton Firefighter having served for over 30 years. John was also a member of the Manson Carter VFW Post in Needham and the DAV.
He is survived by his beloved wife for over 60 years, Dorothy (D'Angelo) Garabedian. Father of Carol Reed of Newton, John and his wife Claire of Mansfield, Cheryl of Newton, George and his wife Carolyn of Upton and Robert and his wife Carole of Mountain View CA. He was brother of the late Charles and George Garabedian and Ida Adams and is also survived by 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave (Exit 19B off Rte 128) NEEDHAM on Sat Aug 18 at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church Newton Upper Falls at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Fri 4-8 PM. Interment with Military Honors will be in Newton Cemetery.
