John Randolph Hood of Wrentham, MA, formerly of Westwood, MA, died on Sunday, January 2, 2011.Born in Connellsville, PA, John was a graduate of Dunbar Township High School Class of 1938 and Washington and Jefferson College Class of 1942. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi. A World War II US Navy veteran, Mr. Hood was a Flight Instructor, Patrol Plane Commander and Squadron Administrative Officer. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, and Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon. John was an FBI agent for 30 years, retiring in 1977. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul O. and Mabel (Bayard) Hood of Connellsville (Trotter), PA, and his sister Katharine Weihe of Needham, he was the uncle of Judy Furlow of Lancaster, OH, and Jane Weihe of Saratoga Springs, NY. He is also survived by 2 grand nephews, 1 grand niece, 3 great grand nieces and 3 great grand nephews. A Funeral service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave., Needham on Saturday, January 8 at 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment with Military Honors at Needham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to the Activity Fund at Pond Home, 289 East Street, Wrentham, MA 02093.
