John Ryder Obituary

John David Ryder, died at the Senior Healthcare Epoch in Weston, MA on Friday Sept 23, 2011 after 11 years with a brain injury. He was 65 years old. He graduated from Kiski School in Saltsburg, PA in 1964, Bowdoin College in 1968 and Northeastern Graduate School in 1970. He began his career with Price Waterhouse in Boston, MA in 1970. He was Manager-Financial Planning and Analysis at Howard Johnsons Co. 1975-1978, Director of Internal Audit and Treasurer of SCA Services, Inc. 1978-1984, Corporate Controller of Tyco Labs, Inc. 1984-1986, and Chief Financial Officer and President of House Calls, Inc. 1987-1991. He began his own financial consulting firm in 1991. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute.
He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Needham, MA, Wellesley Country Club, Union Boat Club, Needham Pool and Racquet Club, Jaycees and Exchange Club. He was an adjunct Professor of Accounting at Northeastern University.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline (Nina) Ellsworth Ryder of Medfield, MA, a son, John D. Ryder, Jr. and his wife Johanna of Alexandria, VA, a daughter, Margaret S. Ryder of Coronado, CA, grandchildren Alexandra (Allie) Ryder and John (Jack) D. Ryder, III, both from Alexandria, VA, sisters, Jean R. Locke of Farmington, CT, Joan R. Ryder of Perrysburg, Ohio, Ann R. Johnson of Chester, CT and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Richard R. Ryder of Dayton, Ohio and Howard W. Ryder, III of Akron, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held on Sat Oct 1 at 11 AM in Christ Episcopal Church 1132 Highland Ave Needham
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in his memory to the Kiski Scholarship Fund, 1888 Brett Lane, Saltsburg, PA 15681.
