Joseph P. Walsh

Joseph P. Walsh, a longtime Needham resident died on Sat Nov 27, 2010 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham. He was 89.
Joe attended Mass College of Art and was a fine artist painting with water and oil, and also did wood carvings. He worked for over 30 years in the micro biology lab at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury and also at the Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham. Joe was also a lifelong musician playing trumpet and trombone with his brother in several bands, and was a member of the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society.
Husband of the late Margaret (Allen) Walsh, Joe is survived by his children Stephen J. and his wife Lisa A. Walsh of Lincoln, RI, J. David of Needham and Judith M. Walsh of Hingham, and his grandchildren Joseph Patrick Walsh, Brendan Murphy Walsh, Anthony Joseph Longo and Valerie Margaret Longo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. NEEDHAM on Thurs Dec 2 at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Wed 4-8 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Needham.
