Julia independently raised her four children in Canton and served the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a social worker for many years. Holding firm to the belief that education is a life-long process, she went back to college and, at the age of 65, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Massachusetts.
Shortly after receiving her degree, and with her kids settled in their adult lives, she was fortunate to find love late in life. She married Gene Testa in 2002, and they enjoyed many happy years together in Needham and Orleans before he passed in 2016.
