June Elizabeth (Martin) Godfrey

June Elizabeth (Martin) Godfrey of Falmouth, MA; formerly of Needham, MA, passed away in Falmouth, MA on Friday, February 24, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was the adoring wife of the late Robert W. Godfrey and loving mother of Deborah Elizabeth Martell, Lisa Elizabeth Poitrast and Susan Elizabeth Trotta and the late William Douglas Godfrey.
June was born in Watertown, MA to the late Elizabeth and Peter J. Martin. She was sister to Peter J. Martin, Jr.; sister-in-law to Cameron (Cheney) Martin and aunt to their daughter Kate. She was sister to Elizabeth (Martin) Webster and the late William Martin and Grover Martin. Her grandchildren include Leslie Elizabeth, Christopher Robert, Jennifer Elizabeth, Nathaniel Laurence and Emily Elizabeth. She attended Mount Ida Catholic High School and Lasalle Junior College. She was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance in Boston, MA; Visiting Nurse Associates in Needham, MA and Dedham Medical in Dedham, MA.
June was always an active and eager participant in her community, both in Needham and Falmouth.
She was President of the Junior New Century Club of Needham. She loved attending Needham High School Sports, especially hockey, Boston College football and hockey games, her grandchildren's games and was an avid Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots fan. She enjoyed spending time with her friends playing golf, tennis, bridge, Mahjong and attended weekly exercise classes. She participated in Book Club, was a member of Falmouth Encore/Falmouth Newcomers and Garden Club.
June loved spending time at the ocean, boating, fishing, and on the beach with family and friends. She and her husband, Bob spent many winters enjoying the warm weather in Sanibel Island, Florida and summered at their home in Falmouth, MA.
June was classy, elegant, vibrant, youthful and always the life of the party. She touched all of our lives, and we will miss her more than words can say.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Christ Episcopal Church, 1132 Highland Ave Needham on Thursday, March 1 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donation in June's name may be made to the Jimmy Fund c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston MA 02284-9168.
