June (Vachon) Hebert, age 87, of Newton, passed away on March 31, 2025 after a year of declining health. She was a longtime Needham resident, along with her beloved husband of 58 years, Leon D. Hebert, who predeceased her. June graduated from Newton High School, attended Garland Junior College, and worked as a child life specialist at Mount Auburn Hospital before becoming a devoted mother and fierce advocate for her three children. In later years, she worked at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital daycare center and spent many years as a volunteer with Friends of Medfield State Hospital in support of the residents. She loved Boston sports, and had a particular affinity for the Red Sox and the Bruins. She also raised two Golden Retrievers and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, whom she spoiled terribly. June is survived by her children, Lee Ann Sweet and her husband Michael of Assonet, Diane Hebert-Farrell and her husband Kevin of Arlington, Mark Hebert of West Roxbury, her grandchildren Ryan Farrell of Melrose and Hayley Farrell of Pennsylvania, her sister-in-law Ann Lee Vachon of Newton, and many dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Linus P. and Doris Vachon, her sister Nancy Rieman, her brother Peter L. Vachon Burial will be private.
