Leonard Hadley Pinaud of Needham, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 84 years old. The son of the late Louis F. and Lois M. (Hadley) Pinaud, Leonard grew up in Roxbury and Dorchester and attended Boston Technical High School and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He was a veteran of the U.S Navy Submarine Service.
Leonard retired from Honeywell Information Systems after many years as a graphic designer. He was also retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as Program Coordinator for the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee and as a Deputy Sheriff with the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office.
Leonard was a Freemason for 54 years and was a Past Master of Dorchester Lodge A.F. & A.M. In 1983 Leonard was appointed by the Grand Master of Massachusetts to the position of Right Worshipful Grand Master for the Roxbury 4th Masonic District. Leonard was also a Past Thrice Potent Master of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Boston Lafayette Lodge of Perfection, and was a York Rite and 33° Scottish Rite Mason.
A former member of the Boston Sea Rovers, he was an avid scuba diver and photographer. Leonard was also active in scouting, was an accomplished musician and loved camping with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda, son Matthew and partner Beth Kennedy and their son Hunter of Abington. Leonard was predeceased by his first wife Carol and leaves two daughters and son Leonard and wife Maria of Mashpee, and their daughters Danielle Pinaud, and Alexandra and husband Garrett Strazdas. Leonard also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visiting hours will be on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA 02492. A Masonic service will take place at 6:30 pm. A graveside service with U.S. Naval Military Honors will be held at the Needham Cemetery, 128 Nehoiden Street, Needham, MA 02494 on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11:30 am.
