Lillian Appleyard Obituary

Lillian (Taylor) Appleyard of Lincoln and Boynton Beach, Fl, formerly of Weston died on Tuesday, January 10th She was 97 years old. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Lillian (Wiles) Taylor. As a young girl, Lillian lived in Dover and moved with her family to Newton Center when she was 8 years old. She was a graduate of Newton High School Class of 1932, Wellesley College Class of 1936 and she attended Webber International University in Babson Park, Florida. Mrs. Appleyard married her late husband, Norman Appleyard Jr. in 1937. She was a founding member of the Congregational Church in Weston, a member of the Weston Golf Club and Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach. Lillian was an avid Bridge player, a fabulous cook and she loved to sing and dance. Lillian was legally blind and made over 300 afghans. The beloved wife for 70 ½ years of the late Norman M. Appleyard Jr, she was the devoted mother of Barbara Jackson of Hobe Sound, FL, Linda DuPuy of Boynton Beach FL, Judith Cornwell of Plymouth and Norman M. "Skip" Appleyard III of East Orleans. She was the loving grandmother of 12 and proud great grandmother of 22. Funeral services at the Congregational Church of Weston, 130 Newton St. Weston on Saturday January 14th at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Friday 4-7 PM. Interment Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St, 5th Floor, Boston MA 02210 and to the Congregational Church of Weston, 130 Newton St. Weston, MA 02493.
