Livia (Petroni) Lencioni

Livia (Petroni) Lencioni of Newton Upper Falls passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 92. Beloved wife of 68 years to the late Michele Lencioni. Loving Mother of Ilia Fisher and her husband John of Lexington; Michelina “Mickey” Kielty and her husband Robert of Newton; and Michael Lencioni and his wife Lina of Walpole. Cherished Grandmother of Tim, Dorrie, Megan, Michelle, Ariana, Nicholas, and Matthew, and Great Grandaughter Laila. Beloved sister of Julia, and her late siblings Mario, Lina, Fedora, Rosina, and Maria of Italy.

Livia was born in Lucca, Italy on September 26, 1929 to Marianna and Giuseppe Petroni. She left Italy in August of 1955 with her two daughters on the SS Independence, arriving in New York to be reunited with her beloved husband and in pursuit of the American Dream.  She lived in Cambridge and Somerville before moving to Newton where she spent the majority of her years. Livia was a professional seamstress and worked as a forelady at June Sportswear in Boston for many years and later in Westwood. Livia handmade many outfits for herself and her family. She was a perfectionist in all she did and will be remembered for her many talents, including sewing and cooking homemade pasta, biscotti, pizzelles, and tortellini. Livia loved trips to Nantasket Beach where she always prepared a special homemade picnic lunch and spent many summer days with her husband and family. She loved her family and friends, Sunday dinners, holidays, and birthday celebrations, and could regularly be found doing water aerobics, eating ice cream, and playing bingo. She was devoted to her Catholic faith throughout her life and will be dearly missed by many who knew and loved her.

Visiting hours in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave Needham, on Monday, August 8th from 9-10am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, Newton Upper Falls at 10:30am. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Livia’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd, Waltham MA 02452.
