Luciene Fountain Schroeder

Luciene Fountain Schroeder passed peacefully on September 24, 2023, at the age of 89.  She was a resident of Westwood, formerly of Needham.  Luciene was born on January 13, 1934, in Macon, GA where she spent her childhood.  She met the love of her life, her late husband of 64 years John E. Schroeder, during freshman year at Tulane University from where she graduated in 1956.

Throughout her life, Luciene devoted herself to family and charitable work.  She served as a docent at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA and Boston By Foot.  She volunteered at her children's and grand children's schools, the Walker School in Needham, WGBH, and the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities.  She enjoyed doing community service through her associations with the Junior League, the Kalmia Garden Club, and the Phi Mu sorority.  Luciene was an avid golfer, tennis player, swimmer, gardener, and bridge player.  Her greatest joys were family dinners, celebrations and vacations, as well as time spent with her many friends.

Luciene was gracious, kind, and caring and will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Elizabeth and Ruth, her grandchildren Margaret and Thomas and his wife Stephanie, and her great grandson Asher.
