Margaret Hammond Obituary

Hammond, Margaret Webster, of Dedham, MA. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Robert L. Hammond, mother of Martha Kerr of Portland, OR, Margaret Nelson of Chatham, MA, Louisa Garrison of Boston, MA and David Hammond of Medfield, MA. Also survived by her brother Richard Webster and his wife Kathanne of Dedham, MA, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and extended family throughout the U.S., Europe and South America. Peggie was a graduate of Walnut Hill School and Wellesley College. A long time resident of Worcester, she was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Worcester Art Museum and the Girls' Club. She enjoyed membership in the Junior League of Worcester, the Wellesley College Club, Hall Club and Shakespeare Club.
An accomplished piano player and singer, Peggie loved attending the Worcester Music Festival for many years. She traveled extensively with her husband, family and friends and cherished her summers at the family cottage on Lake Webster where she enjoyed tennis, swimming and sailing. Holidays with her family were always a highlight. In her later years she was an active member of the Southgate Community in Shrewsbury, MA and joined the Wellspring Methodist Church. A loving matriarch to several generations, Peggie was a devoted wife, mother and loyal friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Donations in Peggie's memory may be made to Seasons Hospice Foundation, 275 Grove St., Suite 3-102, Newton, MA 02466. The family plans a private memorial service at a later date.
