Marguerite Grace "Peggy" Scanlon

Marguerite Grace Scanlon (“Peggy”) passed away on December 20th at the age of 63. She is survived by her brother Michael & his wife Donna of Cohasset, her brother John and his wife Phyllis of Medfield, and her brother James of Newton. Peggy was preceded in death by her “Irish Twin” sister Kathy in June 2021, her “big sister” Pat in 2020, and her brother Bill in 2017. Peggy was the daughter of William E. Scanlon and Vivian (Paquette) Scanlon of Needham. Peggy lived her last eight years with her long-time loving partner Paul McLaughlin of Watertown. 

Peggy was born and grew up in Needham and graduated from Needham High School with the class of 1976 as class president. She attended The University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and later lived with a very welcoming family in Nice, France for a year, where she became fluent in French. Peggy held many jobs over the years with companies in the technology, insurance, and health care fields. There is no doubt Peggy’s favorite pastime was exploring the history and culture of New England and the world, and Peggy spent many hours each week roaming the halls of the world class museums located throughout greater Boston, with the Museum of Fine Arts being her favorite of course. 

There will be a private ceremony in honor of Peggy, for the family only, on December 31.
