Mary V. (Banis) Blomberg of Needham died on Sunday, March 13, 2011. She was 99 years old. Born in the North End of Boston, Mary was the daughter of the late Charles and Stefanie (Piszkin) Banis. Mrs. Blomberg taught in the Waltham Public School s for 10 years before becoming a fourth grade teacher at the Hillside School in Needham. Mrs. Blomberg later taught handwriting at the Hillside School until she retired in the Late 1980’s. She was a member of the Country Dance Society, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a former CCD teacher at Saint Joseph Parish. Mrs. Blomberg also enjoyed poetry. The beloved wife of the late Elliott Blomberg, she was the loving mother of Stephen E. and his wife Jane Blomberg of Needham and Ronald A. and his wife Anne Blomberg of Francestown, NH. She was the sister of Edna Cann of New Hampshire and the late Anne Witzleben. Her funeral will be held from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Friday, march 18 at 10AM followed by a mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 11AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Needham Cemetery.
