Mary Helen (Fiola) Giancioppo, 86, of Needham, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Mary was the wife of Nicholas Giancioppo for 65 years, mother of Michael of Needham, David and his wife Ann of Norwood, Joseph and his wife Stacey of Norfolk, and Donald and his wife Karen of Franklin. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen Fiola of Dedham, and sister to the late Helen Monahan, late Fred Fiola, late Loretta Jones, late Billy Fiola, Rita MacQuarrie and Marianne Sweeney. Mary is survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson and was aunt to many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Mary grew up in Dedham and attended the Horace Mann School for the Deaf in Boston as a child. She later moved to Needham following her marriage to Nick, and there they raised four boys in the same home where she lived the rest of her life, until she passed away peacefully this Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
Mary worked at Carters, Stewart Sandwich shop, and for many years at Polaroid. She was fortunate to have made long-lasting friendships from her days at Horace Mann, and within the Deaf community, and enjoyed socializing over a game of Bingo. But she especially loved being in the company of her large, close-knit family. Mary was a devout Catholic with a deep affection for the Blessed Mother. She faced her passing with courage and determination and was looking forward to reuniting with those who went before her.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by family and friends, until we meet again.
The family would like to thank Autumn Hospice services for their diligent care in her final days.
Mary's funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Wed June 1 at 9:30 AM followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, Newton Upper Falls at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Tues 4-7 PM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham
