Mary Rielly "Nana" Maughn

Mary Rielly Maughn “Nana”, died peacefully Tues Feb 13, 2024, surrounded by her children. Born in Boston in 1933, Mary was the daughter of Ellen and Thomas Rielly of Galway, Ireland. Mary’s first love was her family. She was predeceased by her cherished husband of 61 years, Robert, who died in March 2018, and her beloved son-in-law, Nicholas Trakas who passed away in June of 2023. She leaves her younger brother Edward, truly her lifelong friend and companion.

Mary was an amazing Mother, devoted, kind, patient and selfless. She had a very long and wonderful career as a Registered Nurse spanning over 40 years; she touched the lives of many.

She was the devoted mother of Eileen Ewing and her husband Tom of Wellesley, Margaret  Brown of Medfield, Barbara Trakas of Westwood, Mary Frances Johnson and her husband David of Medfield and John Maughn and his wife Tara of Westwood.

Mary was the beloved “Nana” to Matthew Ewing and his wife Rory, Michael Ewing, John Trakas, Mary-Margaret Brown, Elizabeth Lentine and her husband Brandon, Thomas Brown, Robert Maughn, Jean Johnson, Catherine Maughn, Anne-Marie Maughn, Anna Johnson and Riley Maughn.

A visiting hour will be held on Sat Feb 17 from 8:30 AM till 9:30 AM in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bartholomew Church 1180 Greendale Needham at 10 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Mary may be made to Good Shepherd Community Care 160 Wells Ave. Newton, MA 02459.
