Mary Oneil Obituary

Mary Bernadette Oneil

We lost our Mother and Grandmother Mary Bernadette on February 5th. Our mother came home from Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Center after a month of hospitalization. We wanted our mother at home where we along with Good Shepherd Hospice could care for her. Our mother passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years old.

She leaves her two daughters and son’s-in-law, Bernadette and Rich Giacoppo, and Robin and John Wolf. To her grandchildren and sons-in-law, she was Sissy. Our Mother was a beauty and the love of our beloved Father, Abe MacDonald’s life. Our mother lost both parents, Louis and Bernadette and brother’s Louis and Bobby Vardaro fairly young. She loved and missed them throughout her life. Our mother was a stay at home Mum when we were children. She sewed her own clothes, our clothes and clothes for our Barbie dolls. We spent our summers with our parents on Cape Cod on the lake in our mobile home which we loved. Our mother, as we got older, worked for many years in Cambridge as the building concierge of a condo complex that overlooked the Charles River in Cambridge.

Our mother’s grandchildren were the light of her life. They spent summers on Cape Cod with their Sissy. Once retired she traveled to Florida for most of the winter and she would have us come visit her every year. When her grandsons were asked about some of their favorite childhood memories, Cape Cod was always at the top of the list along with their times at, Lauderdale by the Sea in Florida. Our mother’s grandson’s Christian and his fiancé Jen, her daughter Sidney, Ricky, Nicholas, Christopher and his partner Chloe, her son Charlie all adored their Sissy. Her Great Grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Tig, and expecting by grandson Christopher and Chloe this coming July, Ruby, didn’t get to enjoy many of the things that her grandsons did with Sissy. But, stories about Sissy will be passed down throughout their lives. She will be greatly missed and greatly loved in the living years.

Forever and a Day we love you Mum, we love you Sissy and we will all be reunited in the Heavens above. Rest in sweet peace our beautiful Mum with all the beautiful souls that so very, sadly left ahead of you.
