Maureen Depp Obituary

Maureen Glacken Depp, 67, of Saint Petersburg, FL and Hingham, MA died peacefully with her family present on August 12, 2021, after a short illness. Maureen was born in Brooklyn, NY of the late Dennis Glacken and Mary Daly Glacken. Besides her mother, Maureen is survived by her husband Gregory Depp and children Carolyn Depp and her husband David Hamilton, Brian Newbury, and Eric Depp. She is also survived by her sisters Cathy Steinhardt of Wantagh, NY, Eileen Marando and her husband Louis of Bellmore, NY.

Maureen was retired from the investment management industry, where she was an equity analyst, portfolio manager and director of equity research at various companies including Independence Investment Associates, Wellington Management, State Street Research and Loomis Sayles.  During her career, Maureen was one of several pioneering women holding Wall Street executive positions.

Maureen reveled in her relationships with colleagues, friends, and family. She would assist any person or organization who needed help. She would jump right in and do whatever task needed to be done. During her career, she mentored and actively supported the careers of numerous colleagues.

Post retirement, Maureen was an angel investor with Golden Seeds with her husband Greg. She was on the Investment Committee for Sandy Cove Investments. She also was a member of The Boston Club, plus Infinity and ASPEC of St. Petersburg.

Maureen received her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from St. John’s University in New York and her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rhode Island. She was a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of The Boston Security Analysts Society.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Maureen G. Depp Memorial Scholarship Fund which is being established at St. John’s University’s Tobin College of Business.  Maureen was an alumna of the University and later served on its Board of Governors and the Tobin College of Business Board of Advisors.  The University’s address is 8000 Utopia Parkway, Queens, NY, 11439.   Contributions may be directed in Maureen’s name to the attention of William Schaeffer.

A Private Memorial Service to celebrate Maureen’s life will be held at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 320 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA on September 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM. All are welcome to view the service online at https://www.facebook.com/StPetersChurchWeston  Private interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Needham, MA.  Note that COVID protocols will be in effect, including mask use.
