Dr. Michael Thomas Greene of Wellesley, MA was born on June 6, 1943 in Boston, MA to Dr. Thomas and Marjorie (Cunningham) Greene. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 24, 2020. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Jennifer Greene, Kristin Poch and Elizabeth Greene (deceased), his son-in-law Alberto, and his cherished grandchildren Vivienne, Vincent and Sofia, who brought so much joy to his life, along with his brother Timothy Greene (Carol), loving sisters Kathy Nevil, Patricia Greene, and Barbara Benevento (Tony), nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. His humor, wit, compassion and brilliant mind will undoubtedly be missed dearly.
Michael earned his PhD from the University at Buffalo in 1968. Michael strongly believed in the rights and dignity of all people which he demonstrated in many ways including marching in Selma, Alabama in 1965 to his most recent engaging conversations about politics and ethics. Michael was a professor who taught English, Ethics and Film among other subjects for many years at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. He loved reading and wrote poetry and several books. He enjoyed taking and manipulating photographs, growing flowers and plants, traveling, listening to and playing music.
A celebration of his amazing life will be held in the Spring on Trouble’s beach in his home’s back yard on Morses pond where he spent so many days laughing and enjoying life.
