Mildred R. (Carnevale) Cappello, of Somerville died on July 6, 2011 at Cambridge Hospital. She was 86.
Millie was born and raised in East Boston and had been a resident of Somerville for over 60 years. She and her late husband, operated Jennie-Mae Sportswear, in the garment district in Boston for many years, and she later worked as a Tax Examiner for the Comm of Mass Dept of Revenue. She was a longtime member of the Women's Club at St. Polycarps Church in Somerville.
Millie was the beloved wife of the late Rocco A. Cappello and the loving mother of Angela Pace and her husband Joseph of Stoneham, Anthony Cappello and his wife Cheryl of Medford, Ernestine Matarazzo and her husband Joseph of Medford and Jeffrey Cappello and his wife Mary Anne of Stoneham, the dear grandmother of Joseph Pace Jr., Cara Pace, Anthony Matarazzo, Tanya Matarazzo and Robert and Jeffrey Cappello and dear great grandmother of 7. She was the sister of Wilma Carnevale of Somerville, Norma Uccello of Arlington and the late William and Walter Carnevale, Edna Battaglia, and Gloria Marino. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of the Jeanne Jugan Residence, Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Ave. Somerville on Sat July 9 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be at the Jeanne Jugan Residence on Fri from 3-7 PM. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
