Morris Dettman Obituary

Morris D. “Morrie” Dettman a resident of Reeds Landing, Springfield and a former longtime resident of Needham died on Thursday, November 11 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was 85 years old. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Theodore W. and Clarice (Laughlin) Dettman. Morrie was a World War II US Navy Veteran, having served in the South Pacific. Mr. Dettman worked for Honeywell Computer Division for 35 years, retiring as the Advertising Director. He was an active member of Carter Memorial Methodist Church in Needham, MA. He was a Mason, a member of Needham Council on Aging and the Needham Rotary Club. He was a good friend to many throughout his life to his friends in Needham and Reeds Landing in Springfield. The beloved husband of Eleanor Mae Dettman for 62 years he was the loving father of Karen of Cheshire, MA, Gary of Agawam, MA and the late Steven Douglas Dettman and his loving wife Joanne (Houle). Steve passed away in August of 2001 at the age of 48 following surgery. Grandfather of Brian and Christine both of Agawam, MA.
A memorial service will be conducted in Needham at a future date. In
