Myron Allan Seiden, 86, passed away on February 28 in Needham. His wonderful sense of humor and wit and caring for his family and friends will be missed. His wife often said he could talk to anyone because of his interest in people and events and willingness to engage with them. People sometimes asked that as a mechanical engineer how he was able to go from his first job at General Motors in Syracuse NY to his last position as Asia-Pacific Director for Polaroid, and his reply would be that the skills he had were important whether it was designing fuel-injected carburetors or ID machines for motor vehicle registries all over the world. He had many interests that intersected with his work: cars, photography and the cameras themselves to reading, travel and classical music. His love of Japanese history was fueled by his trips to Japan for work and pleasure as well as his family ties. He and Daniel shared an interest in cycling, cars, photography and Japan. Myron was very proud of having gone to Brooklyn Technical High School and then to MIT. After retirement, he joined The Exchange Club of Needham and for many years was the official photographer of their Fourth of July parades and club activities, including scholarship recipients. Myron grew up in Brooklyn, then Jamaica, NY. His parents were Sarah and Michael Seiden. He is survived by his wife Joanne and son Daniel, his wife Katsumi, and 16 year-old grandson Luka; his brother Stephen and his wife Rochelle of NJ and their children; Joanne’s sisters Henny Wakefield of NC, who was especially close to Myron, and Carolyn Dang of HI and their families and many friends. Donations in memory of Myron can be made to The Exchange Club of Needham (scholarship fund) and sent to The Exchange Club of Needham, P.O. Box 920475, Needham, MA 02492.
