Obituary

Orazio “Scotty” “Harry” Valente longtime proprietor of The Dover Market in Dover, Ma, died on Sunday March 13, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham. He was 90.
Born and raised in Glasgow Scotland, he operated his family fish and chip shop as a young man for many years. He served with the British Army during WW II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He came to the US and settled in Needham in 1959. He worked for several years for Star Market and then purchased The Dover Market in Dover Center which he and his family have run for the past 42 years. He was an active member of the Atina San Marco Society and enjoyed music and played the piano and accordion. He was also an avid soccer player and fan.
He was the beloved husband for 58 years of Lucy (Coppola) Valente, the loving father of Patricia “Patti” Accetta and her husband Louie, and Thomas Valente and his wife Kelly all of Needham, and grandfather of Scotty, Chris, Kristen, Casey and Brian. He was the brother of Mario Valente of Atina Italy and the late Elena Poli, Elsie DiPaolo and Yolanda Hynes. He was the uncle of Caroline Delicata of Waban, Louise Farina of Dover and Dr. Leonard DiPaolo of Newton and is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews.
His funeral will be from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. NEEDHAM on Thurs Mar 17 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 10AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Wed 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Needham Cemetery
